The Freight Economy Forum with the Mid-America Regional Council is a gathering of private and public stakeholders from the greater Kansas City area to discuss freight transportation, trade and logistics, and economic trends. Each meeting covers a variety of presentations and discussions, centered on strengthening the regional economy.

MARC is conducting the region’s first Housing and Transportation Coordination Plan to align regional housing and transportation goals to lower household cost burden, prioritize efficient land use, and create livable communities. To develop a well-rounded understanding of housing and transportation issues across the region, MARC is engaging stakeholders in a variety of ways to gather feedback on questions related to the intersection of housing, transportation, and economic development issues.

Join us for an open house showcasing the latest transportation and environmental planning initiatives across the Kansas City region. Learn about ongoing efforts to coordinate housing and transportation planning, expand transit opportunities, improve regional mobility, advance sustainability goals, and support vibrant, connected communities. Engage with MARC staff, explore current projects, ask questions, and discover how these initiatives are shaping the region’s future. 

The Fall Line Trail has moved quickly from concept to construction in less than ten years thanks to unprecedented regional cooperation and funding, passionate and relentless community champions, the might of VDOT's construction prowess, and enthusiastic buy-in from localities who realize the transformative power of this 43-mile trail. Five miles of the trail opened this summer (Ashland and Hanover County) and major segments (Henrico and Chesterfield Counties, City of Richmond) will come on-line in 2026 and 2027 -- and the feasibility study was only published in 2020!

Join the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) for the Mo/Ia/Ne/Ks (MINK) MPO Peer Exchange, scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kansas City AIA offices. Since you’re in the city for the APA Quad State Conference, join us for this MPO-focused event.

MARC is holding a series of open house events to showcase our Smart Moves KC transit study; this is an opportunity to inform and converse with the public about the 10- and 20-year transit vision for the Kansas City region. 

Come learn about the benefits of transit, how funding might look, and discuss the transit network with MARC staff.
