The Smart Moves KC network is oriented around fast and frequent corridors, where transit service frequency reaches levels of 20 minutes or better, supported by local services and grounded in local priorities and needs.

Every dollar spent on operating and maintaining Smart Moves service generates 2 dollars in the regional economy (output).
At full build out in 2044, Smart Moves is forecast to generate $463 million in benefits annually for the Kansas City region.
By 2044, 26% of people will be able to walk to a transit stop within ¼ miles. Under Smart Moves, a total of 230,000 people will gain access to transit.
Zero-vehicle households will see their access to fast and frequent service more than double with Smart Moves, increasing from 10% to a projected 21%.
Smart Moves is designed with sustainability and economic vitality in mind, seeking to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through increased transit use and support for transit-oriented development.
By encouraging compact, walkable communities near high-frequency corridors, the plan aims to reduce reliance on personal vehicles and promote healthier, more sustainable lifestyles that benefit both individuals and the environment.
Funding levels for the Smart Moves KC network are attainable through ½ cent county sales taxes.
