Destination Safe

A coalition to reduce transportation-related fatalities and serious injuries

The Destination Safe Coalition unites federal, state, regional and local agencies to improve transportation system safety for 13 counties in Greater Kansas City.

The Coalition's mission is to reduce transportation-related fatalities and serious injuries. It is governed by a committee with representatives from local, regional, state and federal agencies, emergency response, law enforcement, public health and nonprofit groups dedicated to transportation safety.

Destination Safe has set a goal of achieving an average of 180 or fewer roadway fatalities annually over the period of its current safety plan.

Safety Data

One important step to reducing fatalities and serious injuries is to examine data in order to identify specific challenges and then find solutions to save lives. The new Destination Safe Crash Data Dashboard is intended to help advocates and safety professionals understand traffic crashes throughout the region. Users can select, view, and download historical crash data, charts and tables from pre-defined boundaries or draw their own.
