The MARC Water Quality Education Committee invites you to participate in the 2025 KC Urban Stormwater Conference on Oct. 28-29, 2025.

The keynote presentations will be given by Mark Doneux, founder of Watershed Management Solutions, LLC, and Dr. Joshua Roundy, Associate Professor in the Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Department at University of Kansas.

Course topics include: Organizing Stakeholders, Protective Action Planning, Decision-Making Process, Communicating Protective Action Movements, Training, Exercise, and Equipment Requirements

Target Audience: Venue Operators, Event Managers, Public Safety Agencies, League Administrators and Officials, Team Administrators, Venue Owners, Local Government, Event Operators, Risk Management Personnel, Athletic Departments, Third-Party Service Providers, Public Relations and Marketing, 

Hybrid format: limited attendees in MARC’s Board Room with a remote option via Zoom.

Regular monthly meeting of the MARC CSC Board. Meetings may be canceled when there is no business scheduled. 

Meetings are typically held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, but may be adjusted to accommodate holidays. 

The Sport and Special Event Enhanced Risk Management and Assessment course brings first responders, government, and commercial facilities professionals together to prepare or enhance risk management and assessment programs. The course introduces methodologies designed to complement and expand on national critical infrastructure framework guidelines. The training leverages a combination of exercises, discussions, and activities to optimize participant experience. The training is applicable across the United States regardless of the venue size, capacity, or type of event.

The Regional Homeland Security Coordinating Committee's Training and Exercise Subcommittee (T&E) is committed to offering training in the Greater Kansas City region on homeland security issues, including deterrence, response and recovery.

This is an external community event.

All scheduled hikes are open to the public. There is no fee. Hikes will be cancelled in severe weather – call the center (816-513-8960) for confirmation. Please dress appropriately for the weather of the day (i.e. raingear, layers of clothing for cold weather, sunscreen and hats for warm weather, insect repellent, closed-toed shoes or boots).

The Sport and Special Event Public Information and Emergency Notification course brings planners, operators, public information professionals, government, public safety, and marketing professionals together to prepare and/or enhance venue and event communication programs. The course prescribes best practices to common communication pitfalls and provides flexible and scalable solutions to a wide range of scenarios. The training leverages a combination of exercises, discussions, and activities to optimize participant experience.
